“My dad was a big Merle Haggard fan, I just remember him playing this song a lot as a kid,” Aldean said. “So given a chance to in and be part of [this tribute], I wanted to do a song that meant something to me.”
The legendary artist will receive the Crystal Milestone Award during this year’s ACMs. Haggard is also the subject of the upcoming tribute album “Working Man’s Poet,” featuring many top country stars.
