Country Music has given us more than a few great wedding dance songs.
Now it’s time to add Dan + Shay’s “From The Ground Up” to that list. Listen for it at finer wedding receptions everywhere. And if you don’t hear it…take your gift back!
Ok, I kid on that last part.
What I wanna point out here is how Smyers and Mooney are establishing themselves as composers.
They co-wrote every song on their 2014 debut Where It All Began, and all but two tunes on their current album Obsessed.
Plus Shay teamed up with Popstar Meghan Trainor (and Nashville writer Jesse Frasure) to deliver Rascal Flatts a huge comeback in “I Like The Sound Of That“, that group’s biggest hit in nearly a decade.
And if you check the writing credits on their songs, most – especially on Obsessed – are collaborations with other Nashville songwriters, opening up new dimensions to their music – and the music they write for others. “Plays well with others” is a good quality to have in Nashville.
For example, here are three hits co-written by songwriting legend Bobby Braddock.
This kind of versatility can lead to a long, successful career. Both as composers and artists. Dan + Shay are just gettin’ started building their legacy as both…and is it too obvious a pun to state, that they’re doing this…um, from the ground up?
