Ally & Andy got to speak with Matthew Ramsey from Old Dominion, who’ll be opening for Kenny Chesney at Heinz Field on Saturday, July 2nd for Chesney’s “Spread the Love Tour.”
This is their second time in 2 Summers to have that spot and Matthew says it never gets old for the band. He shared some of their favorite things about summer including his favorite out door sport.
Matthew also called out the band mate Brad, who is the first to go shirtless in hot weather, “He used to show show up to rehearsals all the time shirtless, he would just pull up with no shirt on.” Ally asked if he had a great upper body and Matthew laughed and said, “Hey, he’s an attractive man.”
Staying in the summer spirit, Matthew talked about his swimming talents and fears said he’s a good swimmer and can do a pretty good cannonball, but admits “I used to do all kinds of crazy stuff, but I’m too old and scared to try anything weird now.”
As for BBQ’ing he’s a burger guy and talked of the recent outing where they bought a cheap BBQ grill for some burgers & dogs, grilled them in the parking lot and then gave it to someone.
Speaking of meat, Old Dominion’s album is titled “Meat and Candy” and Ally & Andy found out how they came up with the name.
Not including opening for Kenny Chesney the last two summers, what was Matthew’s best summer? Turns out it was when he used to dress up as Yogi Bear while working at a Jellystone Park and he would go around to see all of the campers.
And finally Ally & Andy asked Matthew what he still wanted to do during a summer in the future and it was an easy answer, “I’m waitin’ on the invite from Kenny to take us to these islands he goes to all the time.”
