This morning, Garth Brooks called into New York station The Fan‘s Boomer and Carton show, hosted today by Boomer Esiason and guest co-host Phil Simms, to talk about his upcoming concerts at New York’s Yankee Stadium.
Brooks noted that at 52, he’s grateful to still have a robust concert schedule (although the Yankee Stadium date will be his first New York show in decades), while Simms and Esiason have long retired from active gridiron duty.
The country superstar recalled his last New York show, which was at Central Park, and he mentioned that the weather cooperated that night. For the Yankee Stadium show he said, “You hope the weather’s good, but if not, it’ll make it more exciting and more cool.”
Brooks’ New York shows, which will feature his wife Trisha Yearwood as the opening act, take place July 8 and 9. Buy tickets here, and listen to his entire interview with NFL legends Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms here.
