Chloë Grace Moretz Not a Fan of Squads, Thinks Taylor Swift is ‘Very Talented’

Self-proclaimed feminist Chloë Grace Moretz opened up to Complex Magazine about her issue with squads. It’s not that she’s necessarily throwing shade at them, or their purported creator Taylor Swift, but she thinks they breed a friendship based on inclusion.

“They appropriate exclusivity,” she said. “They’re cliques!” For every person who is part of someone’s squad, there are others who are left out, which bothers Moretz as a means of friendship. As it turns out, Swift asked Moretz to join her squad. When asked if she had, the actress didn’t respond directly and would only reply about the pop star, “She’s a very talented person.”

Instead, Moretz stressed that she’s focusing on more than women’s empowerment. “It’s about equality—and it’s not just about women being powerful. It’s about races being powerful; genders being powerful,” she explained.

Moretz recently took issue with Kim Kardashian’s nude selfie, tweeting to the reality TV star that she should set an example for young women everywhere and teach them they have more to offer than their bodies alone. She later insisted she wasn’t shading Kim, and didn’t want young girls to be afraid to speak their mind as a result of the way Kim responded to her.
