Glen Campbell Has Lost the Ability to Speak

Glen Campbell‘s wife, Kim, has given an update on her husband’s condition. Kim told WTSP-TV in Tampa, Fla., that her husband has entered final stage of Alzheimer’s. The singer was diagnosed in 2011 and shared the story of his farewell tour in the Oscar-nominated documentary Glen Campbell...I’ll Be Me.

“He’s healthy, he’s content,” she said. “He’s lost most of his ability to communicate verbally. He has severe aphasia, but he still understands the universal language of smiles and kisses, and he enjoys food.”

Campbell is currently living in a ‘memory care community’ that provides constant care as well as art and music therapy.
