A few weeks later he did an interview with Sirius XM where he acknowledge how ill he really was upon admittance. “I was nearly dead,” he said, adding, “They couldn’t tell whether the [lung] cancer had returned or whether I just had pneumonia. They had to wait until they got the pneumonia under control before we could tell. So it’s been kind of a tough couple of weeks, but I’ve got so many people to thank.”
Haggard later postponed February tour dates after he found he was too weak to get back on the stage.
According to the statement released by his publicist on Tuesday (March 1), Haggard’s doctor’s want him to take another month off before returning to the road.
