Taylor Swift’s Brother Throws Kanye Sneakers in the Trash

By Hayden Wright

After an offensive lyric about Taylor Swift from Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo caught the internet’s attention, Swift’s brother Austin made a bold but commendably restrained statement on social media. He uploaded a video to Instagram captioned “Getting a head start on some spring cleaning. Here we go again,” in which he tosses a pair of Kanye West label sneakers in the garbage with a chipper whistle.

Earlier, Swift’s representation responded to media requests about the lyric in question—in which West raps he made “that bitch famous” and speculates that he may yet get to know her Biblically. Swift’s publicist said that the singer objected to the song’s “strong misogynistic message.”

So far that makes two classy, good-natured responses from the Swift family. Taylor and Austin’s parents should be proud!
