At Y108, we almost never do editorials, but here is Stoney Richards with some words, since Country and Kenny were in the news so much this week.
Kenny Chesney is a Country superstar and on that we all agree.
What some in Pittsburgh do not agree on is why there had to be so much trash in the Heinz Field parking lots after Kenny’s sold out show Saturday at Heinz Field.
I’ve known Kenny for many years and that’s why he had his crew call me on Monday to ask if this was his fault. I told him, no.
It was clean by morning – thanks to the Pittsburghers who worked all night to do so, as they planned to.
So maybe the media, us included, should be focusing on how well things were picked up.
And, instead of telling you about 74 arrests and 195 treated medically, we should be focusing on the 48,827 people who had smiling faces and a safe, fun time watching Eric Church, Kacey Musgraves, The Eli Young Band and Kenny himself, without incident.
And all the money that show brought to Heinz Field, the North Shore and Pittsburgh hotels and restaurants.
Well it’s like when my Uncle Butch used to come over to the house with his brood. It was a pain to clean up after they left but what a great afternoon.
Kenny, all we ask is to change the lyrics a bit…a pirate flag, an island girl and a Hefty trash bag.
