Nashville’s Chip Esten Shares His Secret Steelers Past
“Nashville” actor Charles Eston (Deacon Claybourne) tells Y108’s Jimmy and Monty that his Pittsburgh roots are truly Black and Gold:
“I was born and raised there in Allegheny General, and I grew up in Carnegie, lived there in Greentree”, says Charles. And my father, after my parents divorced, …. man, I was a very fortunate kid because his business partner was the great Steelers center Ray Mansfield, the ol ‘Ranger’. I got to sort of hang out with those Super Bowl Steelers when I was a little kid.”
“That was the first thing that made me feel special on any level was hanging out with Rocky Bleier, and my buddy Andy Russell… and that’s why Steeler Nation is so powerful everywhere you go. I wear my Steeler cap all over Nashville and I get a lot of trouble for it ’cause they love their Titans. But, I’m not changing.”
