Carrie Underwood Replacing Faith Hill On ‘Sunday Night Football’
NBC revealed today that they have selected a new voice for “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” the song used to open Sunday Night Football. Country superstar Carrie Underwood will be the voice heard on the opening theme song starting this fall.
“I am thrilled to be a part of NBC’s Sunday Night Football and am so honored they asked me,” said Underwood. “I have always loved football season, and it is so exciting to now become part of it every Sunday night!”

Underwood’s debut on the program is slated for the September 8 broadcast, which includes rivals Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. She will then continue every Sunday night for the remainder of the 2013 season.
“Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” is a reworked version of a 1988 hit by Joan Jett, “I Hate Myself for Loving You.” Faith Hill has had the honor of performing the song from 2007 to 2012.
Hill called her six-year run “an honor” in a tweet about it last month, but noted that it was “time 2 let someone else rock the open.”
Amazing 2 have been part of SNF – an honor. I’ve just let everyone there know it’s time 2 let someone else rock the open.

And before Faith there was Pink, who performed the theme song during Sunday Night Football‘s inaugural season in 2006.
