Blake Shelton ended 2012 by sitting in a comfy chair drinking “something” out of a red plastic cup. He was nice enough to capture the moment on camera and even share it via Twitter.

But when 2013 rolled into place, Blake chose to kick off the New Year by doing something a little more, um, constructive–releasing a fresh new country song called, “It’d Sure Be Cool If You Did.” Which leaves us wondering: How did he find the time to record a new song in between making his Cheers! It’s Christmas album, playing live dates, and appearing on The Voice?

Listen to Blake’s new song:

He opens the song with the line, “I was gonna keep it real like chill like only have a drink or two / But it turned into a party when I started talking to you.” Perhaps that’s what led to Blake’s New Year’s Eve tweet?

And speaking of tweets, Shelton was surprised when fans started sending him some, noting that they had not only heard his newest song but were loving it, too:

While the song is new, so far there is no news to report on an upcoming album from Blake.

What do you think? Is this single going to soar to the top of the charts?
