As we get closer to discovering who the next Voice will be as Season 3 draws to an end, previous contestant Tony Lucca shed some light on the coaching corner. While Adam Levine turned his chair for the singer last season, Tony revealed to CBS Local that Blake Shelton is one coach to keep your eyes on. With contestants Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope still left in the semi-finals, there seems to be many reasons for future artists to set their wishes on Team Blake.
“If Adam hadn’t turned around I was hoping that maybe Blake would have,” Tony confessed. “Certainly in hindsight, knowing how he is with his team, not to blow anyone’s cover but he’s the most hands on with his team. He’s very giving. He’s into the camaraderie. He loves the gig. He loves being a coach and being involved in these young artists’ lives.”
In fact, Tony said Blake reminds him of former President Clinton.
“He’s extremely personable and he’s the smartest man in the room,” he said. “He reminds me of a Bill Clinton type where he plays up this charming Southern country guy but really he’s the most heads up and really graceful.”
While Tony said he doesn’t regret anything from his experience on The Voice he can’t help but wonder what it would have been like to have Blake as a mentor.
“[Blake] comes from the country world and the Nashville world which at the end of the day has a strong reverence for song and simplicity. As much as I’ve benefited from the edgier, risk oriented Adam I feel like maybe I could have benefited from the easy stride of Blake and his world.”
