Thomas Rhett revealed to Y108’s Jimmy and Monty the truly romantic way he got engaged to his longtime friend, Lauren.

“Man, I have known Lauren since I was in first grade… we went to the same high school and elementary school… but I don’t think she really noticed me till we were 16″.

“(We) got engaged… this past December, and gettin’ married in October, and, uh, I can’t wait, man. It’s gonna be awesome.”

So, where did he propose? “Man, we have a favorite Italian little restaurant that we eat at in Nashville, called Giovanni’s.” After an evening of looking at Opry Christmas lights with their families, Thomas took Lauren to a private upstairs room at the eatery.

“Her mom had put flowers and candles up there.” Lauren wondered for whom all the decorations were intended. That’s when Thomas popped the question. “And there was a (wine) bottle and with a silver Sharpie I wrote “marry me?” with a question mark on the bottle, and she wrote “Well, duh, yes” on the bottle. And somebody cued “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra, and we danced in this little cigar room, so it was pretty awesome.”
