Southern rock classics and contemporary country music are tight in 2012!  The influence of bands like The Eagles or Lynyrd Skynyrd are more apparent now than ever before in country music!

The references aren’t even subtle anymore. Kid Rock’s All Summer Long mentions “Sweet Home Alabama” in the chorus and Kid Rock even got Billy Powell to play his piano solo for the song too.

Then there’s Brantley Gilbert’s lyrical reference in several songs, including the Jason Aldean hit “My Kinda Party” with “chillin to skynyrd and some old hank.” He also mentions the band in a couple of his own songs, including “Kick It In The Sticks” where he chimes “Yeah we crankin up AC DC, hank, skynyrd, and George strait!”

If you’ve never checked out the country music artists tribute albums to the band, take a listen to the 1994 Skynyrd Frynds album or the 2010 album called “Sweet Home Alabama – The Country Music Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd.”

That’s one of my favorite tribute albums ever! It features Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Eric Church, Eli Young Band, Uncle Kracker and Shooter Jennings, among others.

The band is a legend and they’re our Country Rocks At Noon Roots Video Of The Day with “Sweet Home Alabama!”

Make sure you’re listen today (6/12) at 12:05p to hear the song too!
