Jimmy and Monty In The Morning

From Jimmy and Monty In The Morning

Hometown favorite Joe Grushecky, one of the stars of our Y108 8 Man Jam, has been making music for decades. He tells Y108′s Jimmy and Monty that his first musical gig was “at Westmoreland City fire hall, and the first two songs I played were “Wooly Booly” and “Gloria’”.

Joe and Bruce Springsteen have been friends since the early ’80′s, playing together at bars and enjoying each other’s music. “It’s been a mutually rewarding friendship” says Joe.

When did Joe’s children realize that “Uncle Bruce” was well known outside their family? “When the kids hit junior high, probably,” recalls Joe. “Bruce invited us up to see his show at Madison Square Garden, and then it clicked…’Ooohh!’”

Y108′s 8 Man Jam is our exclusive, invitation-only concert event on May 24th at Rivers Casino. Craig Morgan, Phil Vassar, Casey James, Bucky Covington, Josh Thompson, James Wesley, Thomas Rhett and the ‘Burgh’s own Joe Gruschecky (from Rodeowave, Black River, BNA, RCA, New Revolution, Broken Bow, and Valory).
