Wisconsin native Josh Thompson spent a lot of his youth in the great outdoors, where, he tells Y108’s Jimmy and Monty, he encountered his share of black bears.

“I had one incident when I was riding my bike… on a country road… and a black bear ran out 50 feet in front of me. It was kinda scary.”

“Another time, I had one try to climb up my tree while I was deer huntin’. Apparently, I smelled delicious.”

Josh’s bear remedy? “You kinda kick at ‘em and clap a little bit. The thought is that they turn away and run. I’ve been fortunate enough that they have.”

And if a bear ever tried to eat Josh’s leg off? He readily admits, “I would scream like a woman.”
