Montoya wins pole for Sunday’s Brickyard 400

juan pablo montoya by christian petersen 0710 Montoya wins pole for Sundays Brickyard 400

Lap time: 49.375 seconds, at 182.278 MPH. ¬†How’d Juan Pablo and company do it?

Less paint on the car.

No, really.

Story is, Montoya’s crew built a brand new race car slightly lighter than last year’s car…they even applied a thinner coat of paint on it to help save every possible ounce. Lighter cars go faster and so they got the pole.

The race runs Sunday at 1PM on ESPN.
